CARDIOLOGY

Cardiology, originating from the Greek words for "heart" and "study," is a medical specialty focused on understanding and treating heart-related disorders. This field involves diagnosing and managing conditions affecting the heart and cardiovascular system, including congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology issues. Specialists in this field are called cardiologists and are typically part of internal medicine. Pediatric cardiologists treat heart conditions in children, while cardiac surgeons, also known as cardiothoracic or heart surgeons, specialize in surgical procedures involving the heart, often within general surgery.
